The park surrounding the property spreads out over 3 ha. In a dominant position overlooking the characteristic village of Ascain, there is a magnificent view of the Basque countryside from the terraces, with the Pyrenees in the distance, the bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz and the ocean.
The location is ideal to discover the many natural and historical treasures of the region. Firstly, there is the Basque coast, which from Bayonne to San Sebastian in Spain has so many facets: Bayonne and its old streets that wind around the cathedral; Biarritz, its beaches, large hotels and luxury brands, the characteristic villages of Bidart and Guéthary, well known to surfers; Saint-Jean-de-Luz, with its fishing port and its pedestrian town center with traditional Basque shops; Hendaye and its Spanish neighbor Fontarabie; or even always effervescent San Sebastian, where you can taste the pleasures of local gastronomy or spend an evening around a few tapas.
You have a choice of beaches at Saint-Jean-de-Luz (7 km from the property), Hendaye (18 km), or even Biarritz (20 km).
You are also ideally placed to discover the inner Basque country, with its brightly colored red and white villages, their markets and their façades where Pelota is played at all hours of the day: Ascain – where the property is located, Espelette, Sare or even Ainhoa, to name but a few.
Golf enthusiasts will find at less than a 10-minute drive, the golf courses of Chantaco and la Nivelle (Saint-Jean-de-Luz) while at under a 30-minute drive, there is Arcangues or Phare in Biarritz or even Chiberta in Anglet. For the athlete, there is no shortage of activities, particularly the hiking trails including the slopes of the Rhune in the immediate vicinity of the property, with its summit culminating at nearly 900m.
