It is a traditional house made of local stone, completely renovated. The bay window of the kitchen overlooks a lush park. Here and there, species of trees from collections surround the pond and the stream which bring freshness in summer. A little further, on a carpet of grass, the traditional apple orchard will offer an inspiring refuge, and where nature offers you a whole spectacle of colors. For the end of the day, the fireplace pleasantly replaces the sun and you can use its built-in barbecue.

Jean-Marie Dumaine, originally from the Bocage Virois, is a star chef across the Rhine and his wife Colette was born in the cottage. The chef has been cooking with 350 species of plants for 40 years. They are based in Sinzig, a German town near Bonn. He fell in love with the region, the Rhineland, and repatriated his wife and children there forty years ago. “I've always been impressed by German rigour,” he confides with a smile.
